However you can create 3D models and upload them for for showing in Google Warehouse and (if accepted) in Google Earth. If you don&#8217;t know how to do that, read on, because we are keen to help you to learn\u00a0<a title=\"Article in Wikipedia on &quot;digital sculpting&quot;.\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Digital_sculpting\" target=\"_blank\">digital sculpting<\/a>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The basic steps are illustrated <a title=\"How to create 3D models of buildings\" href=\"https:\/\/competition.letchworthfestival.org\/?p=1023\">here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>There is a wide range of resources online, especially via YouTube and in Trimble&#8217;s web site <a title=\"Trimble's resources for learning to use SketchUp.\" href=\"http:\/\/support.google.com\/sketchup\/bin\/answer.py?hl=en&amp;answer=36207\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We encourage everyone to take up and \u00a0continue modelling, so we have provided\u00a0<a title=\"Links\" href=\"https:\/\/competition.letchworthfestival.org\/?page_id=27\" target=\"_blank\">Links<\/a> to YouTube videos and other resources to guide you through the 3D modelling process.<\/p>\n<h2>Online learning<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">What if you are not local?<\/span> You can learn from online videos and forums, such as those listed in the right-hand pane of the <a title=\"SketchUp web log\" href=\"http:\/\/sketchupdate.blogspot.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">SketchUp blog site<\/a>. For instance the SketchUp <a title=\"SketchUp Tips and Tricks blog.\" href=\"http:\/\/sketchupdate.blogspot.co.uk\/search\/label\/Tips%20and%20Tricks\" target=\"_blank\">Tips and tricks<\/a> blog is full of tools and techniques. <a title=\"Dummies.com: 'Building models'.\" href=\":\/\/www.dummies.com\/how-to\/computers-software\/Google-SketchUp\/Building-Models.html\" target=\"_blank\">Dummies.com<\/a> has lots too, as has <a title=\"Bonnie Roskes's Blog of 3D design with SketchUp.\" href=\"http:\/\/3dvinci.blogspot.co.uk\/2010\/07\/whats-coming-in-our-july-projects.html\" target=\"_blank\">Bonnie&#8217;s Blog<\/a>. The visual guide Modeling a City is handy <a title=\"Online SketchUp guide: 'Modeling a City;\" href=\"http:\/\/static.googleusercontent.com\/external_content\/untrusted_dlcp\/www.google.com\/en\/\/intl\/en\/sketchup\/3dwh\/pdfs\/modeling_a_city.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Mainly for businesses<\/span>: You can attend SketchUp training courses in various locations around the world:\u00a0<a title=\"ATC's map of public training sessions in SketchUp.\" href=\"http:\/\/sketchup.google.com\/training\/atc.html\" target=\"_blank\">map<\/a>.\u00a0For instance the ones in the UK are run by <a title=\"Excitech's web site\" href=\"http:\/\/www.excitech.co.uk\/cad\/sketchup.asp?cc=sketchup\" target=\"_blank\">Excitech<\/a> in London and Cambridge. They also provide advice on government training grants for businesses in the UK, by region,\u00a0<a title=\"Excitech's web page on government grants for businesses.\" href=\"http:\/\/www.excitech.co.uk\/training\/government_training.asp\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Obtaining photographs<\/h2>\n<p>For acceptance in Google Earth\u00a0<em>(see below)<\/em>, you can use <a title=\"Google Maps Street View\" href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.co.uk\/intl\/en\/help\/maps\/streetview\/\" target=\"_blank\">Google Maps Street View<\/a> for almost everywhere in Letchworth. Also for instance there are many photographs in the Panoramio site <a title=\"Panoramio web site.\" href=\"http:\/\/www.panoramio.com\/map\/#lt=51.979074&amp;ln=-0.226624&amp;z=4&amp;k=2\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.\u00a0Please make sure you get permission to include and re-publish any photographs in your model(s). Always acknowledge their sources other than for StreetView and for your own photographs.<\/p>\n<p><em>We did <\/em><em>not provide photographs on request. The etiquette is to leave alone the models accepted to Google Earth.
